I have known cases in which innocent people have gone to jail for crimes they did not commit. Usually, it occurs by the mistakes of witnesses who often misinterpret what happened because of pressure from the police. In many cases, these people try to find a solution together with their lawyers so they would not pay for something they did not commit and for a simple mistake of identity they are imprisoned in jail. They are seeking evidence to prove their innocence and so to correct this serious error, but in some cases, it is almost impossible due to the witnesses. Many times innocent people spend years in jail, paying for a crime which did not commit.
You have the whole reason, is very sad to know that many people who are in jail paying for a crime that they did not commit and the real culprits who are outside continue doing the bad things.
